The Importance of Preventative Maintenance

Preventative Maintenance is extremely important to any home or business. Here are some simple tasks you can perform to ensure a plumbing free season!!

  1. Have your incoming pressure to the house checked. This simple task can save you from potential flooding, from blown or burst supply lines and washing machine hoses. Signs of pressure being too high are : Dripping faucets, bubbling or toilets constantly running. Pressure checks are FREE - call to schedule your's today!
  2. Your rain gutters and area drains quite often get ignored unless you've planned ahead with PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE.

If you haven't, don't feel bad. You're not alone! Maintaining gutters and drains on a regular basis will prevent them from filling with leaves and debris, which eventually will cause a pretty tough stoppage. Take a minute to clear the debris away from your area drains so they can function properly when you need them to. If you are unable to clear them yourself, give us a call and we can Snake or Hydrojett the line for you.

Do it right away before the rains start again, you will be saving yourself a flooding headache, not to mention your wallet will be a little fuller!

Holiday Plumbing Tips that will save you $$$

Unless you'd like to set an extra plate at the Thanksgiving table for your plumber, beware of over using the garbage disposal. A common misconception about garbage disposals is they should take whatever you stuff into them. They usually will - but your drain lines won't!! It's better to compost or dispose of things like turkey skin and parts, coarse produce and other questionable food items.

Things to avoid on Turkey day:

  • To much of anything - Including Egg shells, coffee grounds, rice, pasta, potato skins, skins of meats, gravy, or stringy products like artichokes or celery.
  • Doggie bags: Be smart and send leftovers home with guests instead of emptying your freezer to make room for the turkey and stuff that did not get eaten. Plan early and save room in your fridge by shopping light on the days before your holiday gathering.
  • Prepare your home for visitors with a preventative maintenance on your guest bathroom drains and kitchen sink drain, laundry drains and lastly your main line to the street sewer.

This might avoid a potential emergency during your perfectly planned dinner party.

Good luck and have a plumber-less holiday!!
